2 Part Class on 2 Saturdays, $80.00 includes both days
Mosaic Mirror with Etched Dichroic Details
Want to try a classic technique and make an amazing gift for friends and family at the same time? Well, then this is the class for you!
In this two session workshop, with Carmen Flores Tanis, you’ll learn quick and fail-proof techniques to construct your own glass mosaic mirror embellished with etched dichroic elements.
In the first of two sessions, students will practice proper glass cutting, learn the difference between “Indirect” and “Direct” methods of mosaic assembly and come up with a unique mosaic design. You’ll learn how to etch dichroic glass to make one-of-a-kind glass elements and then build those pieces into your mosaic. We’ll end the class by adhering the glass tiles to the base and setting aside the mosaics to dry.
We’ll come back the following week to finish up the mosaics. Students will grout the mirrors then add finishing touches including hanging hardware. Your mosaic mirror will be ready for gift giving!
All levels of student glass experience are welcome! Bring your teens- bring your friends!
(Minors over the age of 13 are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.)
